Ministry of Local Government Permanent Secretary Nicholas Phiri says the second phase of the Cash for Work programme is aimed at empowering communities across all 116 districts in the country.
Mr. Phiri explained that the initiative will promote community participation in road and drainage rehabilitation projects as part of efforts to support climate adaptation.
He noted that the second phase builds on lessons from the initial rollout, with improvements targeting transparency, efficiency, and fairness in the application process.
In a telephone interview, Mr. Phiri also disclosed that digital applications will be introduced to make the programme more accessible to citizens.
