GPZ’s Silavwe Unveils Plan for Dual Vice Presidents to Reform Zambia’s Governance
By Respite Kaoma,

Opposition Golden Party of Zambia (GPZ) President Jackson Silavwe has proposed a bold move to strengthen the country’s governance structure.
Speaking during a press briefing held in Lusaka, Mr. Silavwe suggested introducing two vice presidents, one for administration and another for operations, in a bid to enhance governance and reduce the powers vested in the office of the presidency.
Mr. Silavwe explained that the administration vice president would be the second in command, while the operations vice president would focus on disaster management and mitigation efforts.
He stated that this proposal is part of the GPZ’s broader reset vision, which seeks to address pervasive issues of political interference in Zambia’s civil service and quasi-government institutions.
He also emphasized that the current politicized system is hindering development and that a change is necessary to create an independent backup system free from politicization.
He argued that good governance and economic policies are crucial for Zambia’s progress, and that changing the system is more important than just changing people.
