Copperbelt Traders Applaud Zambia–Tanzania Security Deal, Call for Similar Pact with DRC

By Respite Kaoma,

The Copperbelt Cross Border and Integrated Business Association has welcomed the recent security agreement between Zambia and Tanzania, saying it will significantly boost cross-border trade between the two countries.

Speaking in an interview with Mafken News, Acting Chairman General Poster Jumbe said peace and security are critical for traders to operate freely and confidently across borders.

Mr. Jumbe noted that the agreement guarantees safety for traders moving between Zambia and Tanzania, which will enhance trade, promote business growth, and encourage more investment.

He has since called for similar security agreements with other neighboring countries, particularly the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to further strengthen regional trade and create wider markets for Zambian agricultural produce.

Mr. Jumbe added that such partnerships are key to promoting regional integration, economic growth, and sustainable cross-border business.

Zambia and Tanzania recently signed the security agreement to tackle transnational crimes along their shared border, aimed at improving peace and safety for cross-border traders.
