No Arrests for Loitering, Police Assure Citizens Under 24-Hour Economy

The Zambia Police Service has assured citizens that they will not be arbitrarily arrested or charged with loitering offences during the implementation of the 24-hour economy.

In a statement availed to Mafken News, Inspector General Graphael Musamba said police officers will act professionally and that the public should not fear being arrested at night.

He said the police service will not stand in the way of progressive government policies aimed at economic development and national prosperity.

Mr. Musamba added that officers have been directed to increase police visibility in business areas as a deterrent to crime.

The assurance comes as government rolls out the 24-hour economy initiative aimed at boosting economic activity and creating jobs.

And Mr. Musamba says the police service is ready to provide the necessary security to support the success of the initiative.
