Mufulira Central Member of Parliament Golden Mwila has questioned remarks by Mufulira District Commissioner Everisto Chilumba suggesting a lack of development in Mufulira Central, describing the claims as surprising.
Recently, Mr. Chilumba, during the donation of lenses to school going children in Mufulira Central, expressed displeasure over some Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in the area.
But speaking in an interview with Mafken News, Mr. Mwila said it was unexpected that Mr. Chilumba would raise such concerns publicly when he is a member of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committee, where projects and funding allocations are discussed.
He further pointed out that the DC should instead have used the opportunity to explain to the public how CDF resources are being utilised.
Mr. Mwila has since invited Mr. Chilumba to tour the constituency to appreciate the projects currently underway.
He cited works such as the construction of a mourners’ shelter and kitchen at Kawama Mini Hospital, a road linking Chadamali to Kawama Sikalangwa, and a police post in Kawama West.
Mr. Mwila maintained that development is ongoing under the CDF programme in the constituency.
