UPND Rubishes Allegations of Economic Decline Under Hichilema

United Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy Media Director – Mark Simuuwe

United Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy Media Director Mark Simuuwe has dispelled assertions that President Hakainde Hichilema has made the country’s economic situation worse.

Speaking in an interview with Mafken News, Mr Simuuwe described such claims as baseless, citing several developments recorded under the UPND administration.

He said Government has made significant strides in civil service recruitment, including the hiring of 42,000 teachers, noting that Zambia is the first country in Southern Africa to recruit such a large number at once.

Mr. Simuuwe further stated that when the UPND assumed office, some farmers had gone unpaid for two years under the previous government, a situation which he said has since been resolved.

He added that the increase in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from K36.1 million to K40 million has enabled the training of over 200,000 youths through skills development programmes, empowering young people with practical skills and employment opportunities.
