Chililabombwe Central Police Station received a report of a murder on January 18, 2026, at around 03:30 hours. The incident occurred earlier at approximately 02:00 hours at House B175 in Kakoso Compound, Chililabombwe District.
According to Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mwala Yuyi, the victim, Mumba Zulu, aged 42, was allegedly killed by his younger brother, Brian Zulu, aged 40, following long-standing family differences. The matter was reported to police by their sister, Violet Zulu, aged 44.
Police reports indicate that on the night of the incident, a neighbor identified as Cindy Ngulube heard noise coming from the deceased’s room and alerted Violet Zulu. Upon entering the room, Violet reportedly found Brian Zulu stabbing Mumba Zulu with a knife. Efforts to restrain the suspect were unsuccessful, and he fled the scene.
Police were immediately alerted, and the victim was rushed to Kakoso Level One Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have since arrested Brian Zulu, and investigations into the matter are ongoing. The body of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary, while a docket has been opened.
