Police Launch Probe into Miles Sampa over Fake Polling Station Claim

The Zambia Police Service has confirmed receipt of a complaint against Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa, following allegations that he transmitted false information about a fake polling station in Lusaka.

Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi, tells Mafken news that, the complaint was lodged by Raphael Phiri, a Corporate Affairs Officer at the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), on January 19, 2026.

He explained that, the complaint relates to a statement made by Sampa on January 15, 2026, claiming that a fake polling station had been opened along Ring Road in Lusaka.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chilabi disclosed that Police have opened a docket of case for the offence of Transmission Unsolicited or Deceptive Communication, contrary to Section 19 of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025, with investigations into the matter underway.
