The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) Department of Counselling and Education in Mufulira District has urged members of the public to seek professional counselling for drug-related challenges.
Speaking in an interview with Mafken News, DEC District Officer Happy Sitwala Mebelo said the commission is offering free counselling services to individuals willing to stop drug abuse or those experiencing challenges associated with substance use.
Ms Mebelo disclosed that the most commonly abused substances in Mufulira District include marijuana, sticker and benzhexol, locally known as BH5 or Artane.
She further cautioned women against the use of sniffing substances, commonly referred to as insunko in the local language, warning that such practices pose serious health risks. Ms Mebelo noted that sniffing substances can easily lead to severe illnesses, including cancer.
