Preparations for Women’s Day or Political Meeting? Kalulushi Police Investigate

Kalulushi police have detained 16 people following an unauthorised gathering at Emerald Guest House on February 21, 2026.

According to the police, the group was meeting in a locked room when officers arrived after receiving information that the assembly was linked to the Tonse Alliance.

Among those detained were men and women from various parts of Kalulushi and Chibuluma.

Police said the detainees gave differing accounts, with some claiming it was a meeting for silk activities while others said it was in preparation for Women’s Day celebrations.

All 16 were taken into custody for unlawful assembly, as no prior notification had been made to authorities.A docket has been opened, and investigations are ongoing.
