The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has approved 24 licences and seven construction permits valued at over K1.1 billion, aimed at strengthening energy infrastructure and improving fuel supply across the country.
In a statement, ERB Public Relations Manager Namukolo Kasumpa said the approvals signal growing investor confidence in Zambia’s energy sector and highlight the effectiveness of the Board’s regulatory framework in supporting sustainable investments.
Ms. Kasumpa said the approvals include licences for renewable energy equipment, petroleum transportation and distribution, as well as the addition of 80 fuel tankers to enhance national fuel distribution capacity and improve security of supply.
She added that ERB has also approved construction permits for fuel service stations and more than 70 LPG retail outlets, a move expected to expand access to cleaner energy and increase the availability of petroleum products nationwide.
