Mufulira Mayor Tanaeli Kamanga has welcomed the handover of the Butondo Dryport by Mopani Copper Mines PLC to the Local Authority describing it as a vital step toward strengthening the council’s self‑sustainability.
The facility, handed over after a meeting with Mopani management and a risk assessment, is expected to boost local revenue generation, with funds channelled directly to the municipality to enhance operations and improve service delivery.
Mr. Kamanga explained that the dryport will help restore order in the town by directing trucks to the designated facility, curbing indiscriminate parking, and improving tax compliance.
He emphasized that the initiative will not only raise income for the council but also contribute to better management of local infrastructure and services, marking a significant milestone in Mufulira’s drive for sustainable development.
