ZESCO And Police Join Forces to Tackle Copperbelt Vandalism

ZESCO’s North Divisional Manager, Kennedy Muchanga, has emphasized the need to curb vandalism on the Copperbelt, highlighting its impact on power supply and national development.

Speaking during a courtesy call to Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi, Mr. Muchanga underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing the issue.

He disclosed that vandalism on the Copperbelt has resulted in significant losses for ZESCO, with over K29 million lost last year alone, prompting the utility company to launch a sensitization program to change the trend, with initiatives like the Youth Against Vandalism campaign.

Meanwhile, the Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, Mwala Yuyi, has announced that authorities are taking a strong stance against vandalism and theft of electrical equipment on the Copperbelt.

Mr. Yuyi revealed that the police, in collaboration with ZESCO security, have intensified patrols and are encouraging the public to report any suspicious activity.
