Residents of Murundu in Kantanshi Constituency of Mufulira District have commended Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company (MWSC) for extending piped water to their community, describing the development as a major boost to health and overall development.
The water project, implemented through Government efforts, is aimed at providing clean and safe drinking water to residents and reducing cases of waterborne diseases, which have been a major concern in the area.
Speaking in separate interviews with Mafken News, residents said the project is massive and represents meaningful development that will significantly improve living conditions in the community.
Meanwhile, MWSC’s Communications Unit expressed satisfaction with the expansion of water storage capacity in Murundu, which now stands at 153,000 litres. This includes a 50,000-litre existing tank and a newly constructed 103,000-litre reservoir.
However, the utility noted that household connection levels remain low, with only 17 households currently connected to the water grid, despite the system having the capacity to serve more than 200 additional households.
