GODAZA Condemns Councillors for Discrediting President Hichilema’s Endorsement
By Respite Kaoma,

Governance and Development Advocates Zambia (GODAZA) has condemned the actions of some councillors who have been discrediting the endorsement of President Hakainde Hichilema, describing the behavior as counterproductive to national development.
In a statement availed to Mafken News, the organization’s Executive Director Elias Mulenga claimed that the actions of the councillors amount to a betrayal of the developmental progress the country has made in recent years.
Mr. Mulenga said the progress is particularly visible through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which is now accessible in all councils across the country.
He explained that the CDF, a flagship initiative of President Hichilema’s government, has helped bring development closer to communities at the grassroots level regardless of political affiliation.
Mr. Mulenga further stated that councillors should focus their attention on implementing development projects in their respective areas rather than engaging in what he described as retrogressive politics.
He has since called on political parties and members of the public to reject actions that undermine development efforts and instead support leaders who are committed to advancing progress in their communities.
Mr. Mulenga added that councillors who oppose development should not be adopted by their political parties or allowed to contest in the 2026 general elections.
