Zambia has recorded improvements in the 2025 Corruption Perception Index, reflecting progress in the fight against corruption.

Transparency International Zambia Advocacy, Policy and Research Manager Bright Chizonde says the development shows that efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability are beginning to yield results.

He attributed the improved performance largely to government reforms, particularly the digitalisation of the business environment.

Mr. Chizonde noted that processes such as online tax payments and the digital issuance of mining licenses have reduced direct human interaction, thereby lowering opportunities for corrupt practices.

He has since urged authorities to sustain and deepen the reforms in order to consolidate the gains made and further improve Zambia’s standing in future corruption assessments.
