Zambia has recorded its highest-ever Grade 12 School Certificate pass rate, reaching 70.26 percent in 2025, up from 68.19 percent in 2024.
Education Minister Douglas Syakalima says One hundred and thirty-six thousand, three hundred and fifty-seven out of One hundred and ninety-four thousand, and sixty-nine candidates obtained school certificates.
He attributed the improvement to government interventions such as teacher recruitment, provision of learning materials, and the school feeding programme, which also helped reduce absenteeism to 1.83 percent down from 1.98 percent last year.
The pass rate has steadily improved over five years, rising from 63.9 percent in 2020, reflecting the impact of the free education policy and increased enrolment.
