The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has announced that it will transition to a cashless payment system for all its services effective 1st March, 2026.

The agency says it will no longer accept cash, with the policy applying to all RTSA service centres and corporate partners countrywide.

In a public notice issued by the Head of Public Relations on behalf of RTSA Director and Chief Executive Officer Amon Mweemba, the agency stated that clients will be required to use approved digital payment platforms, including mobile money services, bank cards, and VISA, through Point of Sale (POS) machines provided by reputable banks.

Mr. Mweemba explained that the transition is in line with the Government’s digital transformation agenda and is aimed at reducing cash-handling risks, corruption, and service delays, while enhancing efficiency and road safety compliance.

He further assured the public that the cashless system will enable clients to transact easily, safely, and transparently, and will contribute to reduced congestion and shorter queues at RTSA service stations.
