Newly appointed Minister of Health Alex Katakwe has pledged to tackle the pilferage of drugs and instill a culture of hard work within the ministry.
Mr. Katakwe, who replaces Elijah Muchima, told Mafken News that his immediate priority is to ensure a consistent supply of medicines in health facilities, noting that current availability stands at 60 percent.
He explained that the introduction of a digital platform to track the distribution of medicines will be central to the reforms aimed at improving accountability and ensuring that drugs reach the intended health facilities.
Meanwhile, Mufunelo Malama, Member of Parliament for Mfuwe, has been appointed Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development.
President Hakainde Hichilema announced the appointments in a statement issued by State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka.
