The Movement for National Renewal (MNR), led by constitutional lawyer John Sangwa, has officially become a political party.
The party has since announced its intention to contest in the upcoming August general elections.
Mr. Sangwa says the development marks the beginning of a new political era aimed at improving governance in the country.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka, Mr. Sangwa said the party will focus on developing a people-driven manifesto that reflects the aspirations and priorities of Zambians.
He added that the movement seeks to bring change and offer meaningful solutions to the challenges faced by many poor Zambians.
