Mopani Copper Mines has announced a K500,000 diamond sponsorship for the 2026 Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Expo and Marathon scheduled for March 6 and 7 in Ndola.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Oscar Nyoni, Commander of the Zambia Air Force (ZAF), thanked Mopani for the support. He emphasized that ZAF remains committed to providing security and stability, creating an enabling environment for businesses such as Mopani to operate and thrive.
Lieutenant General Nyoni acknowledged the critical role the mining sector plays in Zambia’s economic development.
Meanwhile, Mopani Chief Executive Officer Charles Sakanya said the expo and marathon reflect the spirit of teamwork and excellence that the company upholds. He noted that the sponsorship demonstrates Mopani’s commitment to community development and the promotion of service and patriotism.
And Phesto Musonda, Board Chairman of ZCCM Investments Holdings (ZCCM-IH), underscored the importance of ensuring that mining benefits reach ordinary citizens. He commended ZAF for organizing the event, describing it as an example of institutions working together to give back to the community.
