President Hichilema Pledges Free, Fair and Transparent 2026 Elections

President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering a free, fair and transparent general election in 2026.

    Addressing the National Assembly during a statement on the progress made in the application of National Values and Principles, the Head of State said political violence has no place in Zambia’s future.

    President Hichilema stressed that the general elections scheduled for August 13, 2026, must serve as a benchmark for democratic integrity and peaceful participation.

    The President warned that his government will not tolerate any form of intimidation, violence or lawlessness as the country prepares for the polls.

    He further cited recent by-elections in areas such as Chawama previously known for volatile political clashes noting that they were conducted in a peaceful manner.
