The opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) has expressed concern over the continued delay in laying former President Edgar Lungu to rest, describing the situation as unfortunate for the nation.
Speaking in an interview, FDD Spokesperson Anthony Chibuye said 5th February marked eight months since the former Head of State’s passing, a development he noted reflects poorly on the country.
Mr. Chibuye stated that the ruling UPND should not have allowed the matter to escalate to its current state, adding that the government ought to have handled the issue with maturity and restraint.
He further said it was regrettable that disagreements arose between the government and the late President’s family, describing the situation as sad and avoidable.
Mr. Chibuye stressed that former President Lungu made a significant contribution to the country and deserves dignity and respect in death.
