Citizens First Calls for Transparent, Principle-Based Political Alliances Ahead of 2026 Elections
By Morgan Chomba,

Citizens First Party National Women’s Chairlady, Faith Munthali, has called for transparency and principle-based political alliances as Zambia moves closer to the 2026 general elections.
Ms. Munthali said the party remains open to dialogue with other political players but cautioned against alliances formed merely for political convenience rather than the interests of ordinary Zambians.
In a statement issued to Mafken News, she said Citizens First was founded on the principle of placing citizens at the centre of governance. She noted that since 2022, the party has been conducting wide consultations across the country to better understand the challenges facing women, youths, and communities.
Ms. Munthali further disclosed that the party has developed a People’s Manifesto and has already met constitutional requirements by electing former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Harry Kalaba, as its presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections.
She urged political leaders and national elders to prioritise unity, openness, and the will of the people, stressing that any political alliance must be guided by a shared national vision and a genuine commitment to serve Zambians first.
