Health expert Dr. Alex Lwando has urged women to prioritize cervical cancer screening as January is globally commemorated as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
Dr. Lwando also advised parents to ensure that girls aged between 9 and 14 receive the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which offers protection against cervical cancer later in life.
He emphasized that men also play a critical role in prevention, encouraging them to support women and, where possible, accompany them for screening.
According to Dr. Lwando, regular screening is lifesaving and helps reduce both the financial and emotional burden associated with cervical cancer.
