By Anthony Chomba,

Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Charles Milupi has held bilateral talks with the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, John Banza Lunda, in Kinshasa to discuss key road and border infrastructure projects between the two countries.
Mr. Milupi emphasized the need to enhance road connectivity and upgrade border infrastructure to facilitate smoother trade and regional integration. He noted that Zambia and the DRC share a 1,930-kilometre border, which presents significant opportunities for trade, connectivity, and economic growth.
He further highlighted Zambia’s progress in infrastructure development through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), citing the signing of concession agreements with institutions such as Sandstone Consortium Limited and Borderway Capital Investments Limited.
Mr. Milupi also pointed to positive developments at the Kasumbalesa Border Post, where operational reforms have increased capacity, allowing for the clearance of up to 500 trucks per day.
The two ministers called on stakeholders to renew their commitment to strengthening cross-border linkages through major road and border projects, including Sakabimba, Kimiswalo, Kipushi, Kasumbalesa, Kasomeno–Mwenda, and Sakania, as part of efforts to boost regional trade and cooperation.
