The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment through the Forestry Department has officially launched the 2025-2026 tree-planting season on Copperbelt Province.
The launch took place in Mufulira District under the theme: “Trees for Life-Restoring Nature, Empowering Communities.”
Officiating at the event, Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo called on all residents to actively participate by planting trees within their residential areas.
Mr. Matambo emphasized that environmental restoration should not be the sole responsibility of the Forestry Department, noting that collective action is vital to combating the devastating effects of climate change.
Speaking at the same event, Mufulira Mayor Tanaeli Kamanga assured the public that the local authority remains committed to the project.
He pledged that Mufulira would continue its tree-planting initiatives in alignment with the government’s broader vision to green the economy and protect the environment for future generations.
