Isoka Town Council has commenced the installation of solar-powered traffic lights at the Mwaiseni Turn-Off along the Great North Road in Isoka District.
In a statement issued to Mafken News in Lusaka, Council Public Relations Officer Peter Sichali said the project is being financed under the 2025 Sector Grant, funded through vehicle licensing, at a total cost of K850,881.39.
Mr. Sichali explained that the contract for the installation of the traffic lights has been awarded to Josmag Enterprises Limited, with the project expected to be completed by March 2026.
He expressed confidence that the initiative will significantly improve road safety, enhance traffic flow, and reduce accidents at the junction, which has been identified as a high-traffic and accident-prone area.
Mr. Sichali added that Isoka Town Council remains committed to improving road infrastructure and ensuring the safety of motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians across the district.
