Zambia’s Agriculture Sector Poised for Growth as Organo-Mineral Fertilizer Investment Takes Shape
By Morgan Chomba,
Agriculture Climate Action Foundation Executive Director, Dr. Oliver Bulaya, says Zambia’s agriculture sector is on an upward trajectory, adding that planned investments are key to diversifying the production of agricultural inputs.
Dr. Bulaya notes that the introduction of innovative solutions such as Organo mineral fertilisers will provide farmers with sustainable options to enhance productivity and build resilience against climate challenges.
He was commenting on a recent meeting between ITRACOM Group of Companies Chairman from Burundi, Mr. Adrien Ntigacika and President Hakainde Hichilema, during which ITRACOM reaffirmed its commitment to invest in a Organo mineral fertilizer plant using cow dung and NPK.
Dr. Bulaya says the initiative marks a significant step for Zambia and the wider region, as it will strengthen the agricultural sector, promote healthy competition among producers and ultimately lead to more affordable prices for consumers.
He adds that the investment represents a major opportunity to advance sustainable farming practices, enhance food security and demonstrates the impact of collaboration between government and the private sector.
