ZMA Executive Director – Humphrey Nkobeni

The Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA) has recorded a strong performance in 2025 after surpassing its targets in legal, scientific, and industrial metrology, as well as revenue generation.

ZMA Executive Director Humphrey Nkobeni said the agency achieved notable milestones during the year, including the drafting of 15 Statutory Instruments and the approval of 19 measuring instrument models — the highest number recorded in the past five years.

Mr. Nkobeni also disclosed that the agency licensed 298 technicians, a development he said reflects steady growth in national competence standards within the metrology sector.

He noted that compliance levels for locally manufactured pre-packaged commodities stood at 94 percent, although he emphasized the need for stricter enforcement in certain sectors.

Additionally, the agency resolved 26 public complaints related to measurement accuracy and conducted 72 joint inspections in collaboration with other regulatory bodies, further strengthening consumer protection and regulatory oversight.
