Third Liberation Movement Accuses UPND of Manipulating Delimitation for Political Gain

By Respite Kaoma,

Third Liberation Movement Spokesperson Kennedy Kalangwa

The Opposition Third Liberation Movement on the Copperbelt has alleged that the UPND government’s delimitation exercise is a plan to increase the number of Members of Parliament for personal gain by President Hakainde Hichilema.

Speaking in an interview with Mafken news, Movement Spokesperson Kennedy Kalangwa claimed that the move is driven by MPs’ desire to award themselves more contracts, rather than serving the people.

Mr. Kalangwa alleges that the reason why the government wants to increase the number is to have a cartel of MPs who will award themselves contracts.

However, United Party for National Development (UPND) National Team Member Cephas Chisange said such sentiments are baseless, stating that there is no evidence.

Mr. Chisange said it is unfortunate to have opposition political parties that cannot discuss policy but instead focus on what he described as “street talk”.

He also challenged them not to field their candidates in the constituencies they are calling fake, since they did not believe in the process of Bill 7.
