
The Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development has officially opened the induction program for the newly appointed Mines Appeals Tribunal, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting the tribunal’s independence.
Speaking at the event, Permanent Secretary Hapenga Kabeta stated that the establishment of the tribunal is a significant milestone in Zambia’s mining governance, aimed at strengthening the rule of law, enhancing transparency, and providing a credible mechanism for resolving mining disputes.
He says the mining sector is a cornerstone of the Zambian economy and key to national development.He revealed that, the tribunal is expected to balance regulatory authority, investor rights, and public interest.
Mr. Kabeta assured that the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development remains committed to supporting the tribunal’s independence, contributing to predictable, fair, and transparent mining sector governance.
