Youth Advocate Urges Young People to Reject Toxic Politics

By Rogan Labika,

Development advocate – Joseph Kangwa

Development advocate Joseph Kangwa has called on young people in Zambia to reclaim the nation’s political future from what he describes as a morally broken and increasingly toxic political system.

In a statement issued to Mafken News ahead of Youth Day on March 12, Mr. Kangwa urged youths to stop acting as passive recipients of political manipulation and instead become active participants in shaping the country’s leadership.

He criticized the continued recycling of ineffective politicians who, he said, prioritize personal comfort over national development.

Mr. Kangwa called for a new generation of leaders with the ability to think beyond personal interests and focus on national progress.

Mr. Kangwa added that young people must transition from being compliant followers to becoming active challengers of the status quo. He said that by demonstrating vision, productivity and unity, youths can compel the political class to respect them as equal partners in governance rather than mere campaign tools.
