The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) Copperbelt Province has challenged the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to provide greater transparency following the clearance of Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo.

PF Copperbelt Youth Information and Publicity Secretary Humphrey Kabwe says the Commission must explain the circumstances surrounding high-value vehicles suspected to be proceeds of crime and allegedly linked to Mr. Matambo.

Speaking to Mafken News in Kitwe, Mr. Kabwe questioned why the ACC only announced the minister’s clearance without detailing the investigative process.

He further demanded disclosure of the ownership of the yard where the vehicles were discovered and who the vehicles belong to, despite the Commission’s findings that they were not registered in Mr. Matambo’s name. Mr. Kabwe stressed that the public has a right to full disclosure in matters of public interest.

The ACC recently announced that Mr. Matambo and Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana were cleared of corruption allegations due to insufficient evidence, leading to the closure of the cases.
