Mopani Copper Mines Chief Executive Officer Charles Sakanya has issued a stern warning to employees against disregarding established safety protocols.

Speaking during a safety meeting at Mopani’s Mufulira site, Mr. Sakanya noted that the failure to adhere to workplace safety rules is directly contributing to fatal accidents.

He urged the workforce to remain safety conscious at all times, emphasizing that the regulations exist solely to safeguard their lives.

The CEO expressed deep regret over a recent spike in incidents, noting that the company has recorded two underground fatalities in which three employees from a contracting firm have lost their lives in recent weeks.

Mr. Sakanya reiterated that compliance is non-negotiable for the protection of every person on site.
