Police in Ndola have detained a 33-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder of his wife, whose body was discovered with a deep wound on the forehead at their family home.
Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer, Mwala Yuyi disclosed that the incident occurred at House Number 2312 in the Old Mushili area and was reported to police on the evening of March 8, 2026.
The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Bridget Kaputula.
According to police, the victim’s grandmother, Otilia Kafwila, 67, was alerted to the incident around 22:00 hours by a relative of the landlord. When she arrived at the house, she reportedly found her granddaughter lying lifeless on a bed inside the residence.
Mr. Yuyi revealed that preliminary investigations suggest that the wound may have been inflicted using a heavy chain and padlock, which were allegedly used to secure the premises.
He added that the suspect, identified as Chola Kapesha, 33, who is the husband of the deceased, has since been apprehended and remains in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been taken to Ndola Teaching Hospital mortuary where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
