The opposition National Congress Party (NCP) has announced that it has rejoined the Tonse Alliance faction led by Given Lubinda, saying the faction now represents the original values and reforms upon which the alliance was founded.
Speaking in an interview with Mafken News, NCP President Peter Chanda said the party reconciled with the Tonse Alliance after being satisfied that the Lubinda-led faction upholds shared ideals and principles, which he noted were also championed by the late former President Edgar Lungu.
Mr. Chanda explained that the NCP remains committed to working with leaders and institutions that continue to uphold and defend the legacy of the former Head of State.
He further stated that there was a reason former President Lungu appointed Given Lubinda as party president before his death, adding that the NCP was also selected as a special purpose vehicle to help advance that vision
