Mwamba Questions Independence Of ACC Over Halted Investigations Into Senior Officials
By Respite Kaoma,

Former Zambian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Emmanuel Mwamba, has strongly condemned the Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) decision to halt investigations into senior cabinet ministers and government officials, describing the move as evidence that the institution is being weaponized to shield those in power.
In a statement to Mafken News, Mr. Mwamba said the decision undermines public confidence in the fight against corruption and raises serious concerns about the independence of the Commission.
He cited the dissolution of the Musa Mwenye-led ACC Board as a key example of alleged government interference.
According to Mr. Mwamba, the board had insisted on equal treatment in the handling of corruption cases, regardless of political affiliation.
He further questioned the credibility of ACC Director General Daphne Chabu and retired Supreme Court Justice Evans Hamaundu, alleging partisanship and pointing to what he described as past controversies surrounding their public roles.
He argued that selective investigations and the halting of high-profile cases risk eroding public trust in governance institutions and weakening the country’s anti-corruption framework.
