A concerned resident of Mufulira District, Edward Zulu, has appealed to the local authority to consider placing laterite on the bridge connecting Kalukanya and Kawama West in order to improve accessibility, especially during the rainy season.
Speaking to Mafken News, Mr. Zulu said the bridge becomes extremely muddy whenever it rains, making it difficult and unsafe for both motorists and pedestrians to cross.
He explained that the application of laterite would help stabilize the bridge surface and significantly reduce the challenges currently experienced by road users during the rainy period.
Meanwhile, Mufulira Mayor Tanaeli Kamanga has acknowledged the concerns raised by residents and assured the community that the local authority will look into the matter and assess possible interventions to address the problem.
