Muchinga Province Minister Njavwa Simutowe has called on residents of the province to shift towards the production of locally grown agricultural products, saying agriculture remains a key driver of economic growth and job creation.
Speaking in an interview with Mafken News in Lusaka, Mr. Simutowe urged communities to diversify into various high-value agricultural activities, noting that farming has evolved into a profitable business capable of improving household incomes and livelihoods.
The Minister said agriculture offers vast opportunities for sustainable development in Zambia, adding that government is committed to supporting the sector through improved access to markets, modern technology, and other essential resources.
Mr. Simutowe further encouraged farmers to take advantage of the favourable farming environment created by government policies, emphasizing that increased local production would strengthen food security and boost economic growth in Muchinga Province.
