Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo has directed local authorities across the province to prioritize garbage collection, the unblocking of drainage systems and general environmental cleanliness to prevent outbreaks of cholera and other waterborne diseases.

Mr. Matambo emphasized that maintaining high hygiene standards in all districts is critical, particularly as the region enters the peak of the rainy season.

He noted that during this period communities become increasingly vulnerable to cholera, making proactive sanitation measures a matter of public urgency.

Meanwhile, the Minister also urged residents throughout the province to support local government efforts by taking responsibility for the cleanliness of their immediate surroundings.

The Minister issued these directives during a courtesy call with the Kitwe District Commissioner.
