Mansa Mayor Calls for Strict Monitoring of CDF Projects to Ensure Quality and Accountability
By Morgan Chomba,

Mansa Mayor Njikho Musuku has reiterated the need for heightened and sustained monitoring of development projects in the district to ensure quality delivery, prudent use of public resources, and tangible benefits to local communities.
The Mayor made the remarks during an inspection of various projects being implemented under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), where he stressed that the local authority will not commission any substandard infrastructure.
Mr. Musuku emphasized that quality assurance is non-negotiable in the implementation of public projects and urged engineers to intensify technical supervision and monitoring to ensure works strictly conform to approved designs, specifications, and timelines.
He also reaffirmed the role of Ward Development Committees (WDCs), noting that they are mandated to monitor projects in their respective areas and report any concerns, thereby strengthening transparency and accountability at community level.
The Mayor said the construction of classroom blocks under CDF forms part of Government’s broader commitment to strengthening the education sector and expanding access to quality learning infrastructure.
He explained that the school projects are aimed at reducing classroom congestion, improving the learning environment, and supporting increased enrolment resulting from the Free Education Policy.
Mr. Musuku further stressed that prudent utilisation of public resources is key to achieving Government’s objective of delivering equitable and sustainable development through decentralisation.
