Ministry of Information and Media, Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana has dismissed as false social media claims alleging that he has passed away.
In a statement, Mr. Kawana said the reports circulating on various online platforms are malicious and entirely untrue, stressing that he is alive, in good health and currently on annual leave.
He also clarified that a press release purportedly issued by State House confirming his alleged death is fabricated and should be disregarded.
Mr. Kawana warned individuals spreading false information on digital platforms that Zambia has laws to address such misconduct, including the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act.
He has since urged members of the public to remain calm and verify information through official government communication channels.
