Government Warns Social Cash Transfer Beneficiaries of Fake Payment Messages

The Ministry of Community Development and Social Services’ Principal Public Relations Officer, Glenda Nachinga, has noted with serious concern the increase in fake and misleading messages being sent to Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries.

Ms. Nachinga tells Mafken news that, these messages are aimed at stealing personal information and money from unsuspecting beneficiaries.

She has emphasized that all Social Cash Transfer payment announcements are made only through official government channels and approved payment service providers.

She has cautioned beneficiaries that any message received from unknown or unofficial sources should be treated as a scam and reported immediately to the Ministry or the nearest District Social Welfare Office.

She has disclosed that the Ministry is working closely with law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest individuals behind these scams.
