The Governance Elections Advocacy Research Services (GEARS) Initiative has dismissed allegations of vote buying in the Kasama mayoral by-elections, describing the claims as unfounded and misleading.
Speaking to Mafken News, GEARS Chairperson Luckson Lungu said the organisation has been on the ground observing the electoral process and noted that the elections have been peaceful and transparent.
He added that those alleging vote buying are merely political parties circulating unverified information without factual evidence.
Mr. Lungu has since urged political players to desist from issuing misleading statements, warning that the continued spread of false information could render those involved answerable to the law and expose them to avoidable consequences.
