The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has commenced the inspection of the Provisional Register of Voters, an exercise running from March 2 to March 8, 2026, at polling stations across the country.

ECZ Chairperson, Mwangala Zaloumis, described the process as a key milestone in preparations for the 2026 General Election, following the mass voter registration exercise conducted between October 13 and November 29, 2025.

In a statement released to the public, Mrs. Zaloumis said the Commission undertook a comprehensive consolidation, verification and clean-up of voter data to compile the Provisional Register.

She disclosed that after the removal of duplicate records, the total number of registered voters now stands at 8,790,173.

Mrs. Zaloumis explained that the register will be made available for public inspection to allow citizens to verify and correct their details before it is certified as the final register, in line with legal requirements.
