By Morgan Chomba,

Copperbelt Minister – Elisha Matambo

Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has expressed disappointment with the poor workmanship on the recently constructed Ndola Sakania Road, where large sections have already developed cracks a few months after completion.

During a tour of the road, Mr. Matambo accompanied by Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Lawrence Mwanza, officials from the Road Development Agency (RDA), and other government representatives said the project falls short of the New Dawn government’s benchmarks for infrastructure quality.

He directed the contractor to halt patchwork repairs and instead carry out a full overhaul of the affected sections.

The Minister also criticized the RDA for failing to provide adequate oversight and ensure the contractor adhered to the agreed scope and standards.

Meanwhile Mr. Matambo, has assured residents that water supply challenges in the province will be resolved by June 2026.
Speaking to Mafken News, Mr. Matambo said all issues surrounding the supply of water by Kafubu Water and Sanitation Company, Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company, and Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation Company will be addressed within the stated period.

He explained that government has already allocated substantial funding to the three utility companies responsible for supplying water in the affected areas.

Mr. Matambo emphasized that the companies are expected to utilize the resources effectively to resolve the existing challenges and ensure residents begin to experience improved and reliable water supply by June 2026.

He further urged members of the public to exercise patience as government works to address the situation.
